It is a masking accessory to a kit, not a model. The pre-cut masks are stuck onto the plastic parts and protect them while paint is sprayed, so the edges stay sharp and the paint does not run under tape. The set is cut for the F-14D AMK kit in 1:48 scale — before you buy, check that this is the one you are building, because the shape of the glazing and its framing differ between toolings.
The F-14D was the last production version of the carrier-borne fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing that served with the US Navy. Against older versions it was given more powerful engines and modernized digital avionics. The machine was a two-seater, with a crew of a pilot and a weapon systems operator, and it operated from the decks of aircraft carriers until the middle of the first decade of this century. In modeling terms it is demanding because of the extensive two-seat canopy and the masking of the movable wing, which can be built in several positions.
Wash the glazing before masking and let it dry, so that the mask holds. Lay the mask down dry with tweezers and press it from the center outwards with a soft wooden stick. First spray the frames over with the shade of the interior and only then with the external shade — the transition then looks believable even at close range. Apply the paint in thin layers and lift the mask off shortly after drying, at a sharp angle.
It is an accessory to a model, not the model itself. The base AMK kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
