The Su-27 is a heavy Soviet fighter aircraft with two engines set far apart. Their exhaust nozzles are clearly visible at the tail and are painted differently from the rest of the airframe, usually in metallic and heat-scorched shades in several bands. It is precisely these transitions that are hard to do without masking, because a nozzle is round and divided up.
A set of masking templates in 1:48 scale cut for the exhaust nozzles of a model of the Su-27. The elements are cut to shape, so nothing has to be traced or cut from tape. According to the name the set is intended for the kit designated with the abbreviation GWH, that is, Great Wall Hobby; the exact designation and the breakdown of the elements are given by the manufacturer in the instructions.
Wash and degrease the nozzles before masking and let them dry thoroughly. Pick the elements up with pointed tweezers, lay them on the part before spraying and press the edges down with a blunt tool, so that no paint runs under them. On a round nozzle work in small sections and do not pull the template by force; the shape has to settle by itself. Spray several light layers; metallic shades moreover gleam unevenly in a heavy layer. Lift the template off as soon as the paint has set, and pull it slowly at an angle across the edge.
For modelers who want sharply separated bands of shade on the exhaust nozzles and do not fancy covering them with hand-cut tape. Thanks to the set the work is faster and repeatable in the same way on both engines.
The templates alone are supplied. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
