This accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains bomb ordnance designated PB-250 cast in resin in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft or of part of one: the set serves to complete a finished model with more faithful underwing ordnance than ordinary injection-molded plastic offers. The resin casting holds the circular cross-section of the body with no parting seam, has thin fins and legible detail on the suspension lugs.
Underwing ordnance is the most conspicuous element under a wing and at the same time the place where injection-molded plastic runs into its limits. Split castings have the seam running exactly along the most visible length of the body and the fins tend to be needlessly thick because of the mold. A resin bomb has none of those compromises, so after the swap the model looks a class better even without further work.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the surface with abrasive paper; do not inhale resin dust. They are bonded exclusively with super glue or epoxy. Apply a primer before painting; it unifies the surface and reveals any scratches left by sanding. Both practice and live ordnance was painted simply, and the colored bands and lettering are usually a matter of decals; if they are not in the package, a fine brush or masking tape will do the job. Finally we recommend a fine wash in the seams between the body and the fins, which visually deepens the part, and a light rub-through on the edges of the suspension lugs.
