Resin covers for the gun ports of the Spitfire LF Mk.IXe in 1:48 from AML. An accessory for machines that had the wing ports covered and no protruding barrels.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small resin accessory from the Czech maker AML for the Spitfire LF Mk.IXe in 1:48 scale. These are covers for the gun ports in the leading edge of the wing in the version without protruding barrels. That is how machines looked that had no guns fitted or had the ports taped over, and on a model it is a difference that anyone who knows the type notices at once.
The Spitfire Mk.IX came about as a quick answer to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and combined the Mk.V airframe with a two-stage supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin 60. The LF version was tuned for low and medium altitudes. The letter e in the designation refers to the late type of wing with rearranged armament, on which the layout of the ports in the leading edge changed as well.
The parts are small, so work over a mat with a raised edge so that they do not fly away. Wash them in lukewarm water with detergent, cut off the casting block and level the mating surface on fine sandpaper. They are glued with a small drop of cyanoacrylate glue, ideally applied with a pin. Fill and sand the joint against the wing, and only then spray the primer, otherwise it will show once it is painted.
The set is an accessory for a kit and does not replace the kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
