The set holds photo-etched metal parts for refining the plastic kit of the Sd.Kfz.10 Demag D7 light half-track tractor in 1:48 scale. The product is not a kit of the vehicle but an aftermarket accessory from the Czech maker Hauler meant for the Bluecat kit, which you have to have separately.
The Sd.Kfz.10 was a German light half-track tractor of the Second World War with an open body. It served mainly to tow light guns and to carry their crews and became the basis for a whole series of derived versions. The vehicle had no roof, so on a model you can see into the interior, and it had a quantity of thin sheet-metal elements: fenders, covers, benches, brackets and flanges - and it is with these that the difference between plastic and photo-etch is most apparent.
With metal parts the preparation of the surface decides everything. Once the photo-etch has been cut out of the fret, clean the fingerprints off it, wash it in warm water with a drop of detergent or wipe it with spirit, and then do not touch it with bare fingers again. Only then comes a thin coat of a primer meant for metal - without it paint holds poorly on smooth brass and peels away when the part is handled. Apply the primer rather sparingly, so that it does not cover the fine engraving. It is sensible to paint and weather the open body before the upper parts are fitted, or you will not reach into it later.
This is an accessory set, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
