A colored photo-etched instrument panel in 1:48 scale for the cockpit of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I type. It is a finished detail accessory, not an aircraft model: the part is in fine metal etch, factory-painted and provided with faithful dials and instrument labels. It comes in a self-adhesive version, so it is placed straight into the pilot's compartment without any spraying or hand painting.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was the first production version of the legendary British fighter, with its characteristic elliptical wing and a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. It carried eight machine guns and played a key role in the Battle of Britain in 1940, where it stood up to the Luftwaffe alongside the Hurricanes.
Cut or sand the original instrument panel from the kit down flat, so that the photo-etched part seats. Peel the backing film off and press the panel into place; on larger parts a drop of cyanoacrylate glue helps. For maximum depth the dials can be dropped with clear resin or gloss varnish, which imitates the glass of the gauges. Work with the fine etch using tweezers and clean fingers.
This is a detail accessory for a cockpit, not a complete model. The base kit and paints are not included in the package.
