AML 1:48 Spitfire LF Mk.IXe SL632 - conversion set is a resin accessory in 1:48 scale for building one particular machine in the form connected with Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia.
Responsibility details are not available.
A conversion set in cast resin in the larger aircraft scale of 1:48, thanks to which the particular aircraft Spitfire LF Mk.IXe with the serial number SL632 can be built from an ordinary plastic model, in the form connected with Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. The set modifies a model; it does not replace it.
The Spitfire LF Mk.IXe was the low-altitude production mark with a Merlin with a two-stage supercharger, with clipped wingtips and a revised layout of the armament. After the Second World War, machines of this mark served with further European operators, among them the Czechoslovak Air Force and later Yugoslavia. Particular examples differed in modifications made in service, and it is these individual deviations that make building a named machine a different task from building a general version.
In a larger scale a conversion is more rewarding, because the seating faces are easier to work with, but at the same time any imperfections show. Wash the mold release agent off the castings, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the area on abrasive paper laid on glass. Always dry-fit before gluing and rather fill a seam with putty than with pressure. Apply super glue sparingly; an excess blooms white and would then have to be sanded away. Spray the finished transition between plastic and resin with primer, which evens the surface out and shows the places that need more work.
The set is an accessory for a plastic model. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
