This is an accessory, not an aircraft model on its own. The package contains a vacuum-formed (vacuform) clear canopy part for the Zvezda kit of the Soviet light bomber and reconnaissance aircraft Su-2 in 1:48 scale. The clear material is markedly thinner than the injection-molded parts of an ordinary kit, so the frame and the glazing look more realistic and an open canopy looks more faithful.
The Sukhoi Su-2 was a Soviet single-engine bomber and reconnaissance aircraft of the late 1930s. It was used in the first months of the German attack on the USSR, where it served for close support and observation. Its glazed cockpit with a good view is one of the characteristic features worth bringing out on a model.
A vacuum-formed part is carefully cut out along its outline and sanded down to an exact edge. It is glued with a clear canopy glue or with a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue away from the clear areas. The frames can be masked with tape or a template and sprayed with an airbrush; before painting we recommend washing the part and not touching it with your fingers. It is practical to have a spare shape ready, because the thin material forgives less than plastic.
The set does not contain the aircraft model itself, paints or glue; it is a separate glazing accessory.
