A set of painting masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the two-seat Su-27UB combat trainer in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an airplane but an accessory that serves to mask the canopy glazing and the other surfaces precisely while the paint is sprayed. The masks are cut from an adhesive masking film and follow the shape of the framing.
The Su-27UB is the tandem two-seat version of the Soviet and later Russian Su-27 Flanker heavy fighter. It keeps the combat capability of the single-seat variant and serves above all to train crews. It is characterized by a large teardrop canopy with richly divided framing, which is demanding to mask when painting.
The accessory will be appreciated by builders of the Su-27UB model in 1:48 scale who want to save the time of marking out the frames by hand and to achieve sharp paint transitions. The masks also help less experienced modelers cope with demanding masking of the glazing.
