A decal sheet in 1:48 scale from the Swedish maker Maestro Models. It covers Swedish Air Force machines operated in the seaplane or floatplane role, which carried the Swedish type designations T 2, Tp 24 and Tp 47. This is not a model nor a kit, but an accessory with which to carry Swedish markings onto a finished model.
Sweden uses a system of type designations of its own, where the letter suggests the role of the machine: T designates a torpedo aircraft, Tp a transport one. A number of machines in this system originated with foreign makers and entered Swedish service in a modified form, so a model cannot be built without separate decals. It is exactly such gaps that the Maestro Models sheets fill: they add the national insignia, the type and serial lettering and the unit markings that ordinary kits lack.
Seaplanes have large smooth areas of fuselage and floats where every mistake shows. So coat the base carefully with gloss clear and let it harden thoroughly, otherwise the decal will wrinkle. Trim the film close to the motif, so that its edge is not visible once it has dried. Soak it briefly in warm water and slide the decal onto an area backed by a drop of water, so that it can still be moved. With large decals, squeeze the water out from under the film from the center toward the edges with a soft cloth, otherwise bubbles will form. On the floats and the transitions decal softener helps. Once it has dried, even the surface out with a flat or semi-gloss coat depending on the character of the finish.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a model or a kit. The model, paints and clear coat are not included in the package.
