Tiger I, exhaust covers 1:48 is a photo-etched accessory from the Czech maker Hauler for the rear of the hull; it replaces thick-walled plastic parts with sheet of a scale thickness.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of the tank but an aftermarket accessory in photo-etched sheet. The set concerns the covers of the exhaust pipes on the rear wall of the hull and is cut for a particular kit, the Tamiya one. It is made by the Czech firm Hauler, which has specialized in photo-etched parts for 1:48 and 1:72 scale for a long time.
The exhaust covers on the real machine are welded from sheet, so they have sharp edges and a small wall thickness. Injection-molded plastic always has to be appreciably thicker because of the mold, and the edge is moreover rounded off after gluing and sanding. Photo-etched sheet keeps a scale thinness even once painted, and seen from the side the difference on the rear is plainly apparent.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War with a gun of 88 mm caliber. The exhaust pipes emerged as two vertical stacks on the rear plate of the hull and were protected by sheet-metal covers, whose form and additional protection differed between the individual production series.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with pliers. Make the bends in a simple bending tool or between two razor blades, so that the edge is straight and sharp. Degrease the sheet with alcohol before gluing, fix the joints with thin cyanoacrylate in small drops and apply a thin primer before painting, because on smooth metal paint does not hold by itself.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
