Hauler 1:48 U.S. Machine gun .30 M1917A1 is a modeling accessory: the American water-cooled heavy machine gun of 7.62 mm caliber in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for builders of hardware, figure scenes and dioramas from the Czech maker Hauler. It is not a kit of a vehicle but a separate weapon in 1:48 scale, which a modeler will use in a machine gun position, as armament in a diorama or as part of a load.
The Browning M1917A1 was an American heavy machine gun of 7.62 mm caliber cooled by water. The barrel was surrounded by a jacket with a water filling, which carried the heat away and allowed long continuous fire, a quality air-cooled weapons do not have. The weapon was operated from a tripod, and its weight and water cooling destined it for the defense of fixed positions rather than for moving with advancing infantry. It stayed in the armament of the American army deep into the Second World War and can be seen in infantry positions as well as with supply units.
Accessories of this type are small and thin, so work with them over a tray and never hold them over a carpet. Wash and degrease them before gluing; they are glued with cyanoacrylate. It pays to paint them before they are set into a scene, because once fitted the weapon is hard to reach. Do not make the metal parts pure silver, as in a small scale silver overwhelms and reads as a toy; a dark steel paint supplemented by light burnishing with graphite on the edges is better. The water jacket is a smooth surface on which a dark wash running into the detail stands out well, and the wooden parts of the stock can be suggested with a thin brown glaze over a light base.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
