A stand-alone resin kit of the American service scooter in a fire fighting version in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. Small mobile equipment of this type is among the most popular ways of livening airfield dioramas up; beside a standing aircraft it tells a story at once.
The American armed forces used light service scooters from the Second World War onward for the quick transport of people and materiel around bases and airfield areas. A whole range of purpose-built modifications and versions for the ground personnel came about, and this one represents a machine adapted for fire standby, a permanent part of the running of field and permanent airfields alike, where fire threatened during takeoffs, refueling and maintenance.
It is a resin kit for more experienced modelers: first wash the parts in warm soapy water to remove the remains of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a modeling saw and sand the marks down; use protection for your airways while sanding. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and apply primer before painting. Fire fighting equipment positively invites a striking red paint finish completed by a fine patina of use, that is dust, scuffs and traces of oil.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
