This is not a kit of the car but a conversion set in cast resin, 1:48 scale, from the Czech brand CMK. The set is intended for converting a plastic kit of the light VW Typ 82 cross-country car into the civilian version used by the German Reich postal service. You can only use the set together with the base kit, which has to be obtained separately; glue and paints are not included in the package either.
The VW Typ 82, commonly known as the Kübelwagen, was a light utility car derived from the design of the Volkswagen people's car. It had an air-cooled four-cylinder engine at the rear, a simple boxy body of sheet steel and a canvas roof. Thanks to its low weight and generous suspension travel it moved well even over terrain an ordinary passenger car could not reach. Besides military service, cars of this type also served in civilian duties and with organizations that needed inexpensive, undemanding transport, among them the postal service, whose vehicles differed in their fittings and their paintwork.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water before building to get rid of the mold release residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and sand the cut surfaces, ideally wet and with respiratory protection. Use cyanoacrylate glue; plastic cement will get nowhere here. A small model with a prominent body calls for a smooth base, so it pays to spray a primer and fill any unevenness. The postal version tends to be more conspicuous in color than the military one, so take care over an even coat of opaque paint and over the gloss clear coat under the decals.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check beforehand that it matches the kit you have.
