A Warsaw Pact pilot in 1:48 scale — a resin figure of an Eastern Bloc fighter pilot, an ideal accessory for models of MiGs and Sukhois from the Czech manufacturer Plus Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A figure from the aviation range of the Czech manufacturer Plus Model captures a fighter pilot of the Warsaw Pact air forces in 1:48 scale. The resin casting is meant as an accessory for models of Eastern Bloc combat aircraft — a figure beside the machine immediately conveys the scale and breathes life into the model.
The air forces of the Warsaw Pact states, the Czechoslovak one among them, operated mainly Soviet equipment during the Cold War, from the MiG-15, MiG-17 and MiG-21 through the MiG-23 and MiG-29 to the attack and fighter-bomber Sukhois. The pilots flew in flight suits with a helmet and an oxygen mask, supplemented on supersonic types by anti-g equipment. A figure in this kit therefore suits a wide range of machines across several decades and several Eastern Bloc air forces.
First wash the casting in water with detergent, then remove the casting blocks and join any separate parts with cyanoacrylate glue. After priming, paint it from period photographs of the particular air force — the shades of the flight suits differed by period and by unit. A fine oil wash and a dry brush bring out the folds of the suit and the details of the kit beautifully.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
