Wheel chocks, naval form, 1:48 (LP Models)

This small resin set represents the chocks that are placed under the wheels of a standing aircraft. According to the name this is the form used by the Russian naval aviation, which differs from the land one in its shape and in the way it is secured. The set belongs among resin accessories for aircraft in 1:48 scale and serves a model that you build separately.

What the accessory is for

Chocks are among the smallest accessories with the greatest effect. A model placed on a smooth base looks like an exhibit on display, but as soon as chocks lie under the wheels the viewer senses at once that the machine is secured and ready to be worked on. On a ship's deck or on a surface by a quay the chocks are historically indispensable as well, so they lend a scene credibility.

Building and painting tips

Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water. Cut the small parts off the casting block with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw over a surface, so that they do not fly off. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. The painting is simple: a primer, a dark matte shade and light dusting of the lower part. If you link the chocks with a thin cord or fiber, they will look even more convincing. Take care that the model still bears on the base with all its wheels once the chocks are glued on.
