Lewis Mk.I Standard Type Stripped Front 1:48 (GasPatch Models) is a resin pair of Lewis aircraft machine guns in the standard form with the front section of the jacket removed, for superdetailing.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail set that captures the British Lewis Mk.I aircraft machine gun in the standard aircraft form with the front section of the cooling jacket removed, in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory for superdetailing. The package holds a pair, two resin castings.
The Lewis was a British light machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber (.303 British) with a pan magazine on top, a common flexible weapon of the aircraft observer in the First World War. Cooling was provided by an aluminum finned radiator around the barrel; on aircraft the front section of the jacket was often removed for weight and airflow reasons.
This form combines the standard shape of the aircraft Lewis with the front section of the jacket removed, so the barrel is exposed at the front. The set suits the observers' flexible mounts of First World War biplanes.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent residue, separate the casting blocks carefully and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. A dark metal base and a fine dry brush will bring out the exposed barrel and the jacket.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
