The set from the Greek manufacturer GasPatch holds two resin replicas of a special version of the Vickers aircraft machine gun in 11 mm caliber, nicknamed the balloon gun. The package is a detail accessory for modelers of Great War fighters.
This was a version of the Vickers adapted for firing incendiary ammunition in 11 mm caliber. The larger caliber and the incendiary effect proved themselves against hydrogen-filled observation balloons and airships, which ordinary rifle ammunition set alight only with difficulty. The weapon had a characteristic ventilated barrel jacket. The casting captures the body of the machine gun and the barrel cooling.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand with respiratory protection. Bring out the metal surfaces with steel shades and a fine dry brush.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
