Vickers Hyland Type E, standard and reversed ammo feed 1:48 (GasPatch, resin)

This set from the Greek manufacturer GasPatch holds two resin replicas of the British Vickers aircraft machine gun in the Hyland Type E form, with standard and with reversed ammunition belt feed. It therefore makes it possible to fit weapons feeding the belt from either side. The package is a detail accessory for modelers.

The real subject

The Vickers was the fixed, forward-firing synchronized machine gun of British and Allied fighters of the Great War in 7.7 mm caliber (.303). The Hyland Type E form differed in the arrangement of the mechanism and the cocking. The casting captures the barrel cooling jacket, the body of the weapon and the controls.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand with respiratory protection. Bring out the metal parts with steel shades and a dry brush.
