Marble and Granit is a printed paper sheet imitating marble and granite in 1:6 scale. It serves as a surface accessory for a diorama; it is not a kit and not a decal.
Responsibility details are not available.
Stone surfaces are among the hardest to imitate by hand in a scene — the veining usually comes out either too regular or blurred. A printed sheet gets round the problem: the surface is finished, and all you do is cut it to size and glue it down. It is used for floors, facings, plinths, tabletops, steps and bases in scenes in 1:6 scale. It is not a kit and not a waterslide decal.
The surface must be perfectly flat and free of dust, otherwise every irregularity will show through the paper. Apply the glue thinly and evenly, ideally with a roller or a flat brush, and press the paper down through a soft cloth from the center out to the edges. You make individual tiles by cutting the sheet into separate pieces and gluing them with a gap; you then fill the joint with a dark pigment or a thin layer of filler. Lay out a dry trial run before you cut.
Stone is not really flat — a semi-gloss varnish gives it a slight sheen, gloss is fine for polished marble and matte suits granite better. Bring out the edges of the slabs with a thin line of a darker color so that the surface does not look like a printed sheet. Add age sparingly: a dust shade into the joints and corners, fine streaks along the line of foot traffic. Cover the transitions between sheets with a molding, a threshold or the furnishings of the scene.
This is a printed paper accessory for a diorama, not a model. Glue, varnishes and a backing board are not included in the package.
