Plastic kits of two British warships in 1:700 scale from Tamiya, from the proven Waterline series. In the box you will find the battlecruiser HMS Hood and, to escort her, an E class destroyer. The models are made as waterline kits (at sea level), so they build into convincing renditions of the hulls above the waterline.
HMS Hood was a battlecruiser of the Admiral class and for two decades the largest warship of the Royal Navy; she became famous as a symbol of British sea power. Her weaker horizontal armor proved fatal in the Battle of the Denmark Strait in May 1941, where the ship was destroyed after a hit from the German battleship Bismarck. The E class destroyers were fast escort ships of the 1930s, used to protect convoys and task forces.
With waterline models it pays to seat the hull firmly on a flat base so that the waterline sits true. Glue the small superstructure parts, masts and gun turrets with liquid cement for plastic and apply the shades of British naval gray with an airbrush. Bring out the panel and deck details with a fine wash; railings and photo-etched extras can be added from the aftermarket.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
