Fujimi 1:700 Akizuki/Hatsuzuki 1944 Fune Next — a model of the Japanese Akizuki-class anti-aircraft destroyer in her state from Operation Sho-1. Parts molded in color, a build without glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Japanese Akizuki-class destroyer from the manufacturer Fujimi in the modern Fune Next line — the parts are molded in color and snap together, so the model can be finished without glue and without painting. According to the name the package allows completion as Akizuki or as her sister Hatsuzuki, both in their state from Operation Sho-1 in 1944.
The Akizuki-class destroyers were designed above all for the air defense of carrier groups. Their main armament consisted of eight dual-purpose 100 mm guns in four twin turrets — the best anti-aircraft gun armament of the Imperial Japanese Navy. In October 1944 both ships escorted Vice Admiral Ozawa's decoy force in the Battle of Cape Engaño, where on 25 October 1944 both were lost: Akizuki after an explosion during the air raids, Hatsuzuki in a night gunnery duel with American cruisers while she covered the rescue of survivors.
The build needs no glue; separate the parts with a sharp knife and clean the edges up. The slender hull of a destroyer comes out well with a fine wash in the detail and a discreet flattening. The model is a fitting companion to the ships of Ozawa's force in the same scale.
The kit is supplied unassembled. The parts are molded in color and snap together without glue; paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
