This injection-molded plastic kit from the manufacturer Riich Models captures the Russian strategic missile submarine with nuclear propulsion of the Borei class (Project 955) in 1:700 scale. In the package there are two separate models built as waterlines (down to the waterline), so a pair of boats of this class can be built. The small scale makes them rewarding models for a shelf as well as for a display case.
The Borei class (Project 955) is a modern Russian series of strategic submarines carrying intercontinental ballistic missiles launched from below the surface. They are large boats with nuclear propulsion, which form the backbone of the naval component of the strategic forces. The hull has a characteristic smooth profile with a large after section covering the launch tubes.
Glue the waterline model together and clean up the parting line on the flanks of the hull; the lower edge can be seated on a smooth base or on a painted water surface. Given the small scale, work with the fine parts carefully. Spray dark submarine shades with an airbrush, accent the deck detail and even the whole out with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
