This injection-molded plastic kit from the manufacturer Trumpeter represents the American battleship USS New York (BB-34) in 1:700 scale. The model has a two-part hull, finely rendered wooden deck texture and complete armament including the characteristic 14-inch guns. The set includes photo-etched parts, catapult aircraft, decals and a display stand with a nameplate.
The USS New York was the lead ship of the class of the same name in the US Navy. She was laid down in 1911, launched in 1912 and entered service in 1914 as the first ship armed with 14-inch main guns. She served in both world wars; in 1945 she joined the Pacific Fleet and took part in the fighting at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She belonged to the dreadnoughts that formed the backbone of the battle line in the early 20th century.
The hull can be built in full or, with a suitable modification, as a waterline model. Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. A primer and an airbrush are recommended. Bring the deck out with a different shade and a fine wash, and the metal areas in dark gray according to the period. Railings and the other photo-etched parts give the model a finesse true to scale. The model shows well on the enclosed stand.
The model comes unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included unless stated otherwise.
