Fujimi 1:700 Warship Next IJN Yukikaze and Isokaze — a twin package of Kagero-class destroyers from the Warship Next line. Parts molded in color and a snap-fit design allow a build without glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi holds a pair of Kagero-class destroyers in 1:700 scale — Yukikaze and Isokaze. They belong to the Warship Next line (Fune Next), which relies on parts molded in several colors of plastic and on snap-fit joints: the model can be built without gluing and, in its basic form, even without painting. At the same time it gives more experienced modelers a quality basis for full painting and weathering.
The Kagero-class destroyers were among the backbone of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Second World War — fast ships with powerful torpedo armament of long reach. Yukikaze became known as the lucky ship: she went through practically all the major operations in the Pacific and was one of the few Japanese destroyers to see the end of the war. Isokaze served mainly with escort groups and ended her service in April 1945 on the last voyage of the battleship Yamato.
Separate the parts with sharp nippers and gently sand the marks left by the sprue gates so that the snap-fit joints line up. If you decide to paint the models, use a thin coat of base and shades of Imperial Japanese Navy gray; a fine wash will bring out the engraved deck detail. The pair of ships positively invites a small diorama of an escort group on a rippled surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
