A barrel of 102 mm caliber has a diameter of under a tenth of a millimeter in 1:700 scale, so a plastic casting is always thickened and carries seams. A turned metal part has the correct slender profile along its whole length, a crisp muzzle and such stiffness that it will not bend even when the model is put down. Nine pieces in the package correspond to a ship with a larger number of positions of lighter gun armament, or they will do for two smaller models.
The 102 mm caliber, that is 4 inches, was among the widespread medium and anti-aircraft naval guns; the individual marks differed in barrel length and type of mounting, from single-barrel positions to twins. Cut the plastic barrel off at the root, widen the hole with a micro drill and settle the metal part dry before you reach for glue. Glue with gel cyanoacrylate glue in small amounts. Degrease the metal and apply a primer, otherwise the paint does not hold on the smooth surface; fit the barrels at the end of the build.
