The parts of this range are designed to fit together by snapping, so the assembly needs no modeling glue. Thanks to that it is a suitable entry into plastic modeling for beginners and for older children under the supervision of an adult, without having to equip oneself with glue and an airbrush straight away. The model can be built unpainted as well, although once painted it looks markedly better.
The AH-64 Apache is a two-seat attack helicopter with the crew seated in tandem one behind the other, that is, the pilot at the back and the systems operator in front. Power is provided by a pair of turboshaft engines placed on the sides of the fuselage, and the main rotor has four blades. Characteristic features of the silhouette are the cannon slung under the forward fuselage, the short stub wings with pylons for stores and the angular, flat fuselage designed so that the machine offers the smallest possible profile when flying at low altitude. The type arose in the 1970s and 1980s as a specialized machine for the support of ground units and in various modernized versions serves in a number of countries to this day.
Even though the parts hold by snapping, it pays to secure the joints with a small drop of cement for plastic, so that the model does not come apart during handling. Before building, clean the remains of the gates up and sand the parting lines lightly, as with snap models they tend to be more prominent. If you are going to paint, first try the assembly dry only and divide it into subassemblies you will paint separately, that is, the cockpit, the rotor and the landing gear. For dark matte shades, acrylics thinned with water suit well, as they do not smell and dry quickly. Mask the clear parts of the cockpit, whether with tape or with masking fluid. Hold the decals on a glossy intermediate coat; with snap models stickers are sometimes supplied, and those can be stuck on straight away.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the parts go together by snapping. Paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
