The Polish manufacturer MASTER specializes in turned brass parts: gun barrels, tubes, antennas and probes for models of aircraft and military vehicles. This set is intended for the model of the Dassault Super Mystère B2 in 1:72 scale and contains brass Pitot tubes (airspeed sensors) and angle of attack probes. It is an accessory, not a model: the Super Mystère B2 kit is not included in the package.
Why swap plastic parts for brass ones? The plastic probes and tubes that come in the box are always a compromise in a small scale: they are too thick, they have a mold seam and they easily snap or bend when a finished model is handled. Brass is strong, it takes handling and carrying the model, and at the same time it allows a part to be turned considerably thinner and more accurate than an injection mold can manage. The tips look sharp and real rather than like a rounded plastic pin, and sharp, thin probes on the nose are exactly what a person notices first on a finished model.
For modelers who are building the Super Mystère B2 in 1:72 scale and want to remove the weakest point of a finished model. Fitting is simple, since it is a matter of drilling and gluing rather than building, so the set also suits less experienced builders who want a big effect with little effort.
This is not a model: the Super Mystère B2 kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. The parts are supplied unpainted. Watch out for the sharp tips and work carefully when drilling.
