Lee-Richards Annular Monoplane — a kit in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Avis. A British experimental aircraft of 1913 with a unique annular wing, one of the most remarkable designs of the early days of aviation.

A kit of the British experimental aircraft with an annular wing in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Avis, who specializes in less usual types from the early days of aviation. The model is made with short-run technology, so expect more careful fitting of the parts; the reward is an exhibit that nobody else will have on the shelf or at a competition.
The annular monoplane of the designers Cedric Lee and George Tilghman Richards was built in Britain in 1913 and 1914. In place of a conventional wing it carried a closed lifting surface in the shape of a ring, from which its creators hoped for stability and good qualities at low speeds. The machine, with a rotary engine, really did fly and proved that an annular wing is a workable concept, but this path was not developed further, as the coming of war in 1914 put an end to the experiments. Today the type is known above all as one of the most photogenic curiosities of the pioneer era.
Dry-fit the short-run parts before gluing and sand the edges lightly. Glue the struts and the bracing between the fuselage and the ring step by step according to the drawing and let every stage cure, as the structure is slender. The fabric-covered surfaces of a pioneer era machine come into their own with fine shading along the ribs, and a flat varnish gives the fabric a convincing look. The bracing can be added with taut elastic thread.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
