Injection-molded plastic kit of the Avia Bk-534 in 1:72 scale. This is the cannon-armed version of the proven B.534 biplane: the letter k in the designation refers to the engine cannon, which was to fire through the hollow reduction shaft along the propeller axis. That called for a modified cowling on the front of the fuselage. It is a short-run kit with plastic moldings, clear parts and a decal sheet. The binding source for the contents is the package itself.
The Avia B.534 was a Czechoslovak fighter biplane of the 1930s and one of the best fighter biplanes of its time. It was powered by a license-built Hispano-Suiza V12 engine and armed with machine guns. The structure was of mixed construction, with fabric-covered surfaces, characteristic bracing wires and interplane struts. The aircraft formed the backbone of the Czechoslovak Air Force at the time of the Munich crisis and later served with other air forces as well.
This is a short-run kit better suited to more experienced modelers — expect to clean up the moldings, sand down the sprue gates and dry-fit the parts before gluing. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. The bracing between the wings is the key step: seat the struts precisely and add the wires from fine wire or thread. Prime the model before painting; camouflage and national insignia go on best with an airbrush, and a light wash will bring out the panel detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
