The Be-8 was a postwar Soviet amphibian with a boat-shaped hull, a high-mounted wing and a radial piston engine. It was created as a multipurpose liaison and transport machine able to operate from water as well as from land. It never reached series production and remained at a small number of aircraft, which served mainly for trials and for testing new features. In the NATO reporting name system it was given the name Mole.
With limited editions and smaller series it pays to dry-fit the parts first and true up the mating surfaces. The boat-type hull has long glued joints, which are best filled and sanded once dry so that the smooth line of the bottom is preserved. Mask the cockpit glazing before spraying and paint the frames in the fuselage color. The bottom of the hull takes discreet emphasis of the wear by the keel and of the waterline marks. Apply a gloss coat before the decals and, once they have dried, unify the surface with a matte or semi-gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
