The Boeing X-32A masking set 1:72 is a set of pre-cut masks for the glazing and framing of a model of this combat airplane demonstrator. It is an accessory for a kit, not the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a masking set from Artillery models for a model of the Boeing X-32A demonstrator in 1:72 scale. The airplane model is not included. The masks cover the glazing of the canopy, so that it stays clear while spraying and the frames come out with sharp edges. On the X-32 that is especially useful, because the machine had a sizable one-piece canopy with a large glazed area. Before buying we recommend checking that the set matches the kit you are building; according to the name it is intended for the Italeri kit.
The Boeing X-32 was a demonstrator built as the competing concept in the program to develop a joint strike fighter at the turn of the millennium. It was marked by a large intake opening under the front of the fuselage and originally by a wing in a delta layout. The X-32A version served to prove conventional takeoff and landing and to check the flying qualities in normal flight. The program ended in the end with the choice of the competing concept, so the X-32 remained at the demonstrator stage; that is precisely what makes it a rewarding and, among models, not very common subject.
Degrease the model before masking and let it dry. Lift the pieces off with tweezers, lay them exactly into the frame and press the edges down with a toothpick so that paint cannot run under them. Spray in thin coats; on large glazed areas it pays to spray the interior shade of the frames first and only then the external color. Take the mask off shortly after the coat has set, with an angled pull. Carefully lift away any small bleeds with a toothpick dipped in clean water or a suitable thinner.
The package holds the masking set only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
