A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for models of the training biplane Bücker Bü 131 Jungmann. These are wet decals, which release from the backing once soaked in water. In the package you will find the sheet and instructions for the schemes; a plastic model, paints and glue are not part of it.
The Bü 131 Jungmann was a two-seat training biplane of the 1930s with open cockpits and an inverted inline engine, that is an engine with its cylinders turned downwards. It was exactly this layout that gave the aircraft a slender nose and a good view out. The machine was marked by pleasant flying qualities, and so it spread far beyond the borders of its country of origin — it was built under license in several states, among them Czechoslovakia, and in the postwar years it served in civil operation and in flying clubs. A number of examples still fly today as historic aircraft, which means that alongside period schemes there is also a whole range of colorful civil finishes.
On a biplane the order of work matters more than on single-wing models. Apply the decals to the upper wing if you can before you set the wing on its struts — once assembled, the surface is hard to reach and there is a risk of bending the struts while handling it. Suggest the fabric covering only with a very light emphasis of the ribs; an exaggerated shadow looks unnatural. Spray an intermediate gloss coat before the decals; with matte-finished training machines that is especially important, because a matte surface silvers most under a decal. Add the bracing wires and rigging only once the decals and the varnish are finished, otherwise the brush gets tangled in them. Choose the final varnish, matte or semi-gloss, according to whether you are building a period training machine or a glossy aircraft in civil finish.
