This item is not an airplane model but an armament accessory from Eduard, out of the resin branch of parts. It serves to let a faithfully shaped GBU-15 glide bomb in the configuration designated (V)21/B be hung on the pylons of a finished model. The base airplane kit has to be obtained separately.
The GBU-15 is an American modular glide bomb with no propulsion of its own. It consists of a warhead, a guidance section at the front and lifting and control surfaces at the rear, and with that goes a data link through which the operator corrects the path right up to the hit. The modular construction means that the same assembly could be combined with various warheads and seeker heads, and it is precisely from that that the individual designations in the form of a number in brackets follow. The versions with the index 21 and 22 are listed as the configuration with the smaller wing, which on a model is a clearly noticeable difference from the variants with a large span of surfaces.
Separate the castings from the casting blocks with a saw, not with nippers, as small surfaces break off easily. The surface has to be washed in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that no mold release agent stays on it. Then a primer and painting follow in turn; with modern American aerial armament, light gray and olive shades supplemented with colored bands are the usual starting point. It is practical to paint the bomb separately and to hang it on the model only at the very end with super glue, so that the fine tail is not damaged during handling.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and further parts are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
