A photo-etched detail set in 1:72 scale meant to improve the exterior of a plastic model of the F-14A Tomcat fighter. It is not a kit but an accessory: thin etched brass parts that replace or supplement the coarser plastic items on the surface of the model. It is made by the Czech firm Eduard, a leading maker of photo-etch.
The photo-etched parts add fine, thin detail where plastic is necessarily thicker. Typically these are items of the landing gear and its doors, various hatches and access panels, grilles and covers on the intakes and exhausts, missile pylons and other small external details that give the model its scale fidelity.
The parts are separated from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface and bent with a bending tool or between two razor blades. They are glued with super glue; on larger areas a longer-setting glue can be used for precise placement. Degrease the parts before painting.
This is an accessory for a model. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
