1:72 P-51D-10 Mustang cockpit PRINT from the Czech company Eduard is a detail set for the pilot's compartment of a Mustang build in a small scale. It replaces the simpler cockpit from the kit and is not a model in itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
The pilot's compartment is one of the things that catch the eye first on a finished model, and in a small scale kits tend to handle it in simplified form. This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard offers a more elaborate solution for the cockpit of the specific P-51D-10 production block. It is an accessory that is seated into a part-built kit.
The North American P-51D was the high point of Mustang development, a fighter with a laminar flow wing and a Packard Merlin engine which, thanks to its great range, escorted bomber formations all the way to targets deep inside Germany. The bubble canopy gave the pilot a field of view the earlier versions did not have, and that is exactly why the cockpit of a model is so easy to see into. The individual production blocks differed in detail, so it pays to reach for the set that matches what you are building.
First dry-fit to check that the canopy drops into place as it should once the set is in. The side walls often only need thinning slightly from the inside. Spray the cockpit and add the shading before you glue the fuselage together; a finished model will not let even a brush inside. The belts and small levers stand out if you bring them up carefully with drybrushing.
