Wheels and paint masks for the early Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in 1:72 scale — a resin accessory from the Czech manufacturer AML for faithful landing gear on the famous British fighter.

This set from the Czech brand AML brings resin main landing gear wheels of the early form for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in 1:72 scale, together with paint masks for painting them. The cast wheels carry markedly finer hub detail than two-piece plastic kit parts allow, and the masks give a sharp transition between hub and tire in a few seconds of spraying.
The Hawker Hurricane was the first monoplane fighter of the RAF, and in the Battle of Britain in 1940 it bore the main weight of the fighting, its pilots claiming more kills than the pilots of all the other means of defense put together. The early examples of the Mk.I version were marked out among other things by a fabric-covered wing and a two-blade propeller, and the early form of wheels that the set captures belongs to exactly these aircraft.
Wash the remains of the mold release agent off the castings, separate them from the casting blocks and level the contact surfaces lightly. Spray the wheels in the tire shade, then lay the mask on and spray the hub. A fine dark wash draws the structure of the casting out, and a dry brush then picks out the edges. A light dusting with pigments in the color of a field airfield adds credibility.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings with paint masks and requires a base kit of the aircraft. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
