This item is not an airplane kit but an accessory set from the Czech brand Eduard. Big Ed is Eduard's designation for a package that brings together in one package several sets that are also sold separately, all of them meant for one particular model. It therefore proves its worth where a modeler knows he wants to take a model all the way into detail and does not want to track the individual sets down one by one. The base Hurricane model in 1:72 scale has to be obtained separately.
The Hawker Hurricane was a British fighter of mixed construction, with a tubular fuselage frame and fabric covering on the rear part. The Mk.IIc version carried an armament of four 20 mm cannons in the wing, which made it a usable machine for attacks on ground and naval targets and for night operations at a time when the purely fighter role was already passing to more modern types. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. The robust construction and the ease of repair were among the reasons the type stayed in service long after its peak.
Cut the photo-etched parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface, not with nippers. The folds are made in a bending tool, or at least between two razor blades, otherwise a rounded transition arises instead of a sharp edge. They are bonded with super glue applied on a pin, as ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on metal. If the set contains parts printed in color, do not spray over them with primer or varnish, as you would lose the print. Before gluing a part in place it is advisable to sand the corresponding molded detail off the plastic, so that the part seats flush.
The accessory set is supplied without the base kit. Glue, paints and the model are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
