The real subject

The Hawker Tempest Mk.V was a British fighter aircraft of the end of the Second World War. It was powered by the Napier Sabre engine arranged in an H layout and compared with the older Typhoon it was given a thinner wing and a modified fuselage. The result was one of the fastest piston fighters of its time at low altitude, which proved itself both in attacks on ground targets and in chasing V-1 flying bombs over southern England. Modelers took to it for its clean shape and the varied color schemes of the end of the war.

What the set contains

This is a set of pre-cut masking stencils for the model of this aircraft in 1:72 scale. The extent of the masked areas and the kit the stencils will fit are determined by the instructions of the manufacturer, so go by them both when buying and when working.

How masking is done

The stencils are stuck onto a clean, dry and degreased surface before spraying, never over a finished coat. Once they are on, press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a blunt wooden stick, so paint does not run under them. Apply the paint in several thin coats and spray straight at the surface rather than at an angle under the edge of the stencil. Take a stencil off as soon as the coat has flashed off, not after it has cured completely, and pull it back over itself at an angle, not straight up. Wipe adhesive residue away with a clean cloth.
