An injection-molded plastic kit of a light truck of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force in 1:72 scale. The designation 1/2 t in the name is not a scale but the load class of the vehicle. This item is issued in the version for ordinary ground units; a release for the military police is issued under a different code. The maker is the Japanese company Fujimi, which has the military vehicles of its own armed forces worked out as a complete range.
This is a four-wheel light utility vehicle of the class up to half a ton of payload, that is, a counterpart of the light trucks that in other armies fill the role of a liaison, reconnaissance and escort vehicle. In design it comes from a civilian off-road vehicle; it has a closed cab, a canvas rear cover and all-wheel drive. In 1:72 scale it is among the small models that suit airfield and convoy scenes, where it works as a scale comparison beside larger vehicles.
A small scale forgives little in one thing: the cleanness of the seams. Cut the parts off with nippers and attach them with thin cement for plastic by capillary action, so that it is not squeezed out into the engraving. Paint the chassis and the cab interior before you close the body up. Choose the paint so that the engraving stays visible - in this scale it is better to lighten the base shade by a step. Keep the weathering in check: a fine dark wash in the seams, a light dry brush on the edges and an unobtrusive hint of dust under the wheel arches are quite enough. The canvas cover can be brought to life with a subtle difference in shade against the metal parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
