1:72 KhAI-3 is a metal detail set from Metallic Details intended to improve a model of this Soviet experimental aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of the aircraft but a small metal detail accessory for a model of the KhAI-3 in 1:72 scale. Sets of this type add to a plastic kit the features that cannot be injection molded, because they would have to be too thick. The result is a model with sharper edges and finer detail than the form that comes in the box.
The KhAI-3 was a Soviet experimental aircraft connected with design work at the Kharkiv Aviation Institute in the interwar period. It was a development machine with an unconventional layout that never reached series production, and it is therefore represented in the modeling range by only a very few items. It is precisely with such marginal types that a detail accessory makes sense, because the base kits tend to be restrained in shape.
Before you start work, plan out which plastic parts the set replaces and remove them before you glue anything else. Sand the seating face left by the removed plastic flat, as metal will not seat on a bump. Degrease the metal parts and spray a primer, and only then paint, or the finish will rub off the smooth surface. Glue with cyanoacrylate, not with cement for polystyrene, which has no effect on metal. Lay the small parts out on double-sided tape in advance, so that they do not spring away while you handle them with tweezers.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
