The set contains self-adhesive masks cut to the outline of the wheel bays of a model in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit and it is not a set of parts. According to the name it is intended for the naval Phantom versions F-4B, F-4N, F-4J and F-4S, which share the same wheel bay arrangement.
Anyone building Phantoms in larger numbers will appreciate that the set covers several naval versions at once. In practice that means there is no need to look for a separate masking aid for every model, and that the remainder of the sheet can be used on another model from the same family. Store an unused sheet flat, away from dust and direct light, so that the tacky layer does not harden; a mask once peeled from the backing should not be put back.
The versions listed form the development line of the naval Phantom. The F-4B was an early production naval machine, the F-4N came out of its upgrade, the F-4J brought more capable equipment and the F-4S was the result of a later upgrade of F-4J machines with changes to the wing. All of them share the twin-engine arrangement and the characteristically cranked wing.
The procedure is always the same: primer, the shade of the interior of the bay, thorough drying, mask, outer finish. With several models built in parallel it pays to mask them all at once and spray them in one batch, because the shade from the same mixed paint then matches across the whole group. Press the edge of the mask down around the perimeter and spray thin coats.
This is an accessory to a kit. The model itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
