The Emil in three schemes: 1:72 decals for the Bf 109E-3 with aircraft of JG 26, JG 3 and JG 51. A mask for the canopy is enclosed as well.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E, which the crews called the Emil, was the main German fighter of the first two years of the war. The E-3 version had the DB 601A engine and cannon in the wings, and it was with this one that the Luftwaffe went into the fighting over France and England. The sheet in 1:72 scale brings three such aircraft, including two machines of well-known fighter pilots.
Priller later commanded a whole Geschwader and became famous for his flight over the Normandy beaches on the day of the landings. Blume's machine belongs to the height of the Battle of Britain, when JG 26 was operating from the French coast. The oldest of the three is the aircraft from Merseburg from the first month of the war, that is from the time when the Emil was still building up its numbers.
A mask for the canopy belongs with the sheet, which on the Bf 109E every builder will appreciate: the framing of the canopy is densely divided and masking it by hand with tape takes more time than all the rest of the painting. The decals themselves are activated with water and settle on the smooth areas of the fuselage without trouble. The cannon covers and the wing roots are better treated with a decal softener. On the machines of 1940 the boundary between the light underside and the camouflage of the sides moved higher than on earlier aircraft, which affects where the fuselage crosses fall; so test the layout dry. A kit is not part of the delivery.
