A set of decals in 1:72 scale for a model of the light twin-engine Mil Mi-2 helicopter in police configuration. It is not a kit but an accessory: you mark a finished and painted model with the sheet of decals. The base kit is obtained separately.
The Mi-2 is a light multirole helicopter with two turboshaft engines mounted above the cabin. It was designed at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s and produced in series in Poland, from where it spread to a whole range of countries. It flew in transport, ambulance, agricultural, training and police roles; civil and police machines differ from military ones in their striking finishes and lettering, which turn a model into a colorful and easily recognizable exhibit. It is exactly that marking that this set brings.
The base under the decals has to be glossy — flat varnish holds air under the film and the result is silvering. The proven sequence is gloss varnish, decal, softener, drying and a final flat or semi-gloss varnish, which sinks the decal into the surface. Cut the decal out close to the printing, soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest on a towel until it begins to move. Carry it to the part together with its backing paper. On a helicopter watch the rounded transitions of the cabin and the areas around the doors — a stronger softener and gentle dabbing with a cotton bud help there. Apply the decals on the tail boom before you glue the struts and the stabilizer on.
The set holds decals, not a model. The kit, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
