Masking stencils for the camouflage of the MiG-29UB in 1:72 scale, variant 3

A set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks from the manufacturer Js Work intended for spraying camouflage onto a model of the two-seat MiG-29UB combat trainer in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor decals. This item matches the third variant of a camouflage scheme from a complete range, and the other variants come out under their own numbers, so several differently finished models of the same type of aircraft can be built.

Use

Spray the model with the base shade and let the paint cure, ideally overnight. Lift the masks off the carrier sheet, place them according to the enclosed scheme and press them down carefully, including on the rounded surfaces. Lay the second shade on in several thin coats, so that the paint does not seep under the edges. Remove the masks while the paint is still fresh, pulling at an acute angle. By lifting a mask above the surface on small strips a softer transition between the shades can be created. After taking them off, wipe the surface lightly with a soft cloth and only then go on to gloss clear coat under the decals.

Why stencils instead of handwork

In 1:72 scale the individual patches of camouflage are small, and cutting masks out of tape by hand tends to be slow and inaccurate. Pre-cut stencils hold the shape of the pattern exactly and the same scheme can be repeated on another model at any time. The set is also sparing in that neither meters of masking tape nor time over a scalpel are used up.
