A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive masks from the National Insignia Series line of the Polish maker Pmask. With it, British national insignia are not stuck onto a Mustang model in 1:72 scale but sprayed. The shapes and sizes of the templates match this type of aircraft in this scale, so the insignia sit in their places on the fuselage, the wings and the vertical tail. The set is intended for one model.

Why painted markings instead of decals

• No glossy edge of carrier film arises and there is no risk of silvering on a matte finish.
• The marking follows panel lines and rivets, because it is a real layer of paint.
• The markings take harsher weathering, sanding and sprayed washes.
• There is no risk of an old decal sheet cracking or rippling.

Painting tips

Spray the camouflage finish on the model first and let it dry properly, because masks should not go onto soft paint. Lay the template on, press the edges down and apply the colors of the insignia one after another, always in thin coats. On a multicolor roundel it helps to start with the lighter shade and lay the darker one over it. In 1:72 scale the areas are small, so spray at low pressure and rather more often than heavily. Take the mask off while the paint is only tacky.
