The real subject

The V-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor, that is a machine with tilting rotors at the ends of the wing: it takes off vertically like a helicopter and, once the nacelles are tilted into the horizontal position, flies like a propeller airplane. It thereby combines vertical takeoff with a range and a speed that a helicopter does not reach. The landing gear is retractable, with a nose wheel and the main wheels hidden in side sponsons of the fuselage.

What the set contains

Replacement wheels for a model in 1:72 scale with tires shaped as weighted, that is with sagging at the place where they settle onto the ground. The letter in the designation distinguishes the individual executions within the line; this set is type b. The extent of the parts and the kit the set fits are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down carefully, so that the shape is not disturbed. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. Use cyanoacrylate glue for gluing. The position of the wheels is essential: the flattening of the tire has to point toward the ground, otherwise the whole weighted effect comes to nothing. After gluing the wheels on, stand the model on a flat board and let the glue set, so that it stands on all the wheels at once.

Who it is for

The set is intended for modelers who are bothered by the symmetrically round tires from a kit and want the machine in a display case to look as though it were bearing its own weight. The swap is a matter of a few minutes and shows on a finished model at first glance. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
