A kit of a modern army cargo truck in the long wheelbase version, 1:72 scale, manufacturer Armory. The model is intended to be assembled and painted; there is no finished vehicle in the package. In 1:72 scale, vehicles suit above all those who build dioramas together with aircraft in the same scale — the truck then serves as a logistics accessory to an airfield scene.
The subject is a tactical cargo vehicle for carrying materiel and troops, used in the modern Russian army. In design it is a conventional layout truck with all-wheel drive, a rugged ladder frame and a flatbed body with a tarpaulin top; the long wheelbase version means a longer body and a larger load area than the basic version.
On cargo vehicles the most sensitive part is the chassis. Assemble the frame on a flat surface and keep checking that all the wheels touch down — a twisted frame can no longer be corrected once the body is glued on. Paint the cab and the body separately and join them only once dry; that way you reach the inner surfaces as well. Leave the tires a matte dark gray rather than a pure black; pure black in a small scale looks like a hole. For weathering, the procedure from lightest to darkest proves itself: first a dust deposit of dry pigment on the lower parts, then a dark wash into the engraved lines and finally spot highlighting of the edges with a dry brush. Keep the mud effects low around the wheels, or the model looks unbelievable.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
