An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz. 251 medium half-track in the 251/2 version in 1:72 scale from Dragon, in the riveted Ausf. C form. The model captures the open armored body with its sloped sides, the front wheels and the tracked running gear, and the fittings for a medium mortar of 80 mm caliber. The kit is made up of plastic parts on sprues, unless stated otherwise.
The Sd.Kfz. 251, nicknamed the Hanomag after its maker, was a German medium armored half-track of the Second World War that carried infantry and in a number of variants also filled support roles. The 251/2 version carried a medium mortar of 80 mm caliber and so gave mechanized units mobile fire support. The Ausf. C form was notable for its angular front armor plate and riveted construction.
Assemble and dry-fit the running gear and the front wheels before you close up the body; ideally leave the open fighting compartment and the mortar accessible for painting. Glue the small parts with thin cement for plastic. Lay the base coat over a primer with an airbrush; the German camouflage is livened up by washes and dust pigments on the running gear and inside the body.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
