This plastic kit from the Czech manufacturer Kovozavody Prostejov captures the Seafire Mk.Ib, the first production naval version of the famous Spitfire adapted for operation from aircraft carriers. The model in 1:72 scale is injection-molded in plastic and rounded out with clear canopy parts; it is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Seafire Mk.Ib was created by converting Spitfire Mk.Vb fighters for the needs of the British Fleet Air Arm. It was given an arrestor hook for landing on deck and other naval modifications. At the same time it kept the excellent handling and the armament of its predecessor, that is, two 20 mm Hispano cannons and four machine guns of 7.7 mm caliber, which made it a valuable reinforcement for the carrier squadrons at the beginning of its service.
Use liquid cement for plastic and clean up the joints of the fuselage and the wings carefully. It pays to paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage. Lay down a gloss clear coat before the decals, which will ensure a clean edge with no silvering. An airbrush and a primer coat will help toward even coverage of the typical naval camouflage schemes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
